This 'Hiderpaste' (30H) Peg paste is used to stop pegs slipping. Cleverly, this traditional formula - designed by Hidersine in the mid-20th century - has a mildly viscous formulation designed to stop pegs from slipping.

To apply, remove the peg from the pegbox and briefly rub the block of paste 3 or 4 times onto the two sections of the peg shaft that touch the inside of the pegbox. Re-insert the peg and turn a few times to evenly spread the paste. Then re-string and you're good to go.

Your pegs should turn smoothly yet grip without applying excessive force.

Hidersine DB-series of Double Bass rosins are a suite of three respected formulations specifically for double bass. With a number of different blends of waxes to create the optimum rosin for three temperate climates, bass players are able to find the perfect recipe for their personal situation.

DB1 is the softest and most tractive of the three formulas, therefore making it suitable for use - and storage - in generally colder climates. With its very high levels of grip (Grip Profile GPR#8), this rosin can of course be used in any situation that requires greater levels of on-string traction, but care should be taken to ensure that it is not stored above a regulated room temperature of 18 – 20degree Celsius.

This Hidersine Rosin is made in England in the same way as always: An Artisanal process of hand-mixing and hand-pouring.

W. E. Hill & Sons Peg Paste. This special peg paste from W. E. Hill & Sons is a composition to ease sticking pegs.

Hill’s Peg Paste has been the industry-standard solution to sticking pegs on bowed instruments for decades and has now returned to a historic look and feel with rebranded traditional packaging featuring a stylish tin and foil design - reducing the use of single-use plastic packaging used on the previous plastic twist dispenser. 

To Apply

Once the tuning peg is removed from the scroll and cleaned, remove peg paste from tube, peel back foil as required. Apply the peg paste sparingly to the length of the tuning peg - a small amount goes a long way. 

Reinsert the pegs into the pegbox, tuning them gently as you push them in, to evenly distribute the peg paste inside the peg holes. Turn each peg slowly to ensure that they move smoothly without sticking. If necessary, you can adjust the amount of paste or wipe off any excess.

Varnish cleaner to remove dirt from fine string instruments. The W. E. Hill Varnish Cleaner recipe has been in use for over 100 years, aiding string restorers protect and conserve their instruments.

This Hill Varnish Cleaner is specially blended for the cleaning and restoring of traditional varnishes.

To Apply

Shake well before each use. Apply a small amount of Vanish Cleaner to soft cloth. Work the cleaner into the body of the stringed instrument, gently lifting away dirt. Refrain from leaving excess liquid on the body – ensure that liquid applied to the body is worked until dry.

Small amount is required per application. Return safety cap to bottle after each use.

Newly formulated specifically to help clean, care for and conserve your fine stringed instruments and bows, W.E.Hill & Sons’ Conservation Wax is made using a unique blend of microcrystalline waxes and citrus oils.

Developed and manufactured in the UK, Hill Premium Conservation Wax has undergone an extensive testing programme that has shown to aid in the effective removal of rosin build-up and act as a gentle polishing agent without the need for petrochemical solvents. 

Conservation Wax is not abrasive and is perfectly transparent when applied. Apply gently with a soft cloth. Replace lid after use.

To Apply
Apply wax to the wooden body of the instrument, working the wax with a microfibre cloth in small circles until transparent. Continue as necessary. In instances of wax sitting in grain, lift from grain with small soft brush and continue as normal. Replace lid after use.
