The Focal Shape 50 is a highly innovative nearfield studio monitor, incorporating a wide range of revolutionary technology and premium-level components. The Shape 50 Studio Monitor offers low tweeter directivity for flexible listening placement, designed without a baffle so you can place it next to a wall. The monitor can be used from 80 cm for greater flexibility. The extended frequency range (50Hz - 35kHz) ensures capture of all nuances of your source audio, ideal for mixing and mastering applications.

Innovative Nearfield Monitoring
The Focal Shape 50 Studio Monitor is a compact nearfield studio monitor with a unique design including a dual 5" passive radiator. The 1" M-shaped inverted aluminum/magnesium dome tweeter pairs with the 5" Flax sandwich cone woofer to deliver extended low-frequency reach. The Focal Shape 50 is designed without a baffle so it can be placed close to a wall. These monitors can also be used from 60 cm, ideal for larger rooms. The high-end technology provides a transparent, uncolored sound, ideal for mixing and mastering applications.
Exceptional Audio Fidelity
The 5" Flax sandwich cone provides an ideal low-frequency response thanks to the high-quality flax fiber core sandwiched between two thin fiberglass layers. The result is high internal damping combined with exceptional speed of sound and bending stiffness. The technological methods used to create this Flax sandwich cone deliver ideal sonic neutrality, perfect for mixing and audio reference. At the heart of the Shape studio monitor are two Class AB amplifiers that power the drivers for outstanding audio performance. The result is controlled, articulated bass as well as detailed midrange response. The 1" M-shaped inverted aluminum/magnesium dome tweeter delivers exceptional high-frequency detail, combining with the Flax sandwich cone to produce a natural, rich sound.
DTM Surround
One of the most unique features included in the Focal Shape line is the TMD (Tuned Mass Damper). The damper surrounds the edge of the Flax sandwich cone woofer, stabilizing dynamic behavior at resonance, preventing cone deformation without affecting dynamics. This patented technology is used in earthquake-resistant skyscrapers and race car suspensions to provide additional resistance at the resonance frequency to control it. The result is minimized woofer cone fatigue over time, delivering a natural, rich midrange.
NIC - Neutral Inductance
Another exclusive technology incorporated into the Focal Shape design is NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit Technology), which provides an incredibly stable magnetic circuit. The custom Faraday ring used for this was optimized using custom materials, dimensions and positioning to ensure that the magnetic field no longer affects the positioning of the voice coil. In turn, this guarantees the highest possible high-definition audio fidelity and performance. The result is high-definition audio that does not compromise detail or contrast.
Design and Construction
The Focal Shape Nearfield Studio Monitor is housed in an MDF enclosure with a natural walnut varnish, which not only looks elegant but also provides additional acoustic qualities. The rear of the unit features several settings for optimal integration, including a high-pass filter that can be bypassed, adjustable crossover (at 160Hz) and adjustable bass and treble. These attenuation controls allow it to adapt to any space or room to optimize audio quality and listening position. The enclosure also has threaded inserts for ceiling and wall mounting (mounting accessories not included).
